The recruiting dead period is over for college football recruiting and here’s a look at the latest on Dylan Raiola, a key visit for Texas A&M football, and more.

When it comes to college football recruiting and elite quarterbacks, few head coaches have the track record that Lincoln Riley does and that’s one reason the USC Trojans should be taken seriously when it comes to Dylan Raiola.

The five-star quarterback is ranked No. 1 among passers in the 2024 college football recruiting class and while there’s been lots of buzz about Nebraska, USC is picking up momentum and is going to host Dylan Raiola for the second time since his commitment from Ohio State.

Raiola took a dead-period visit to Nebraska which he is allowed to do because his uncle is the offensive line coach at Nebraska. However, USC got a visit last month and this weekend will be the second time for the five-star QB according to 247 sports.

Riley has been in contact a lot with Raiola and after landing Malachi Nelson, one of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 class, and coaching Caleb Williams to the Heisman Trophy, it’s probably not that hard to sell quarterback success to Raiola at USC.

Oregon is another program that Dylan Raiola said he wants to visit. Georgia might be fading a little bit, yet it still feels like there is a long way to go.

Texas A&M football hosting five-star David Stone

Another battle to watch in the 2024 college football recruiting class is the race for five-star defensive lineman David Stone, who is ranked 13th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Oklahoma is the crystal ball leader but the projections came back in 2022. Michigan State has also received some expert projections and both of those programs are squarely in the mix.

Yet, Stone will take his first visit after the dead period to Texas A&M football. Here’s what the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder out of IMG Academy told 247 sports about the Aggies’ pursuit:

"“Their d-line is crazy. They’ve been getting the No. 1 d-lineman every year for the last two or three years. Why not continue the trend? I love the College Station life, I’ve been there multiple times. It’s a good place to be around. Their fans are nice. The facilities are brand new and the dorms I remember when they were first getting built, Coach Fisher told me they were spending a whole lot of money on everything and should be finished my freshman year There’s a whole bunch of good stuff there and I think they’ll be doing well soon.”"

Stone isn’t the only elite D-lineman Oklahoma is in the mix for and 247 sports reports that Williams Nwaneri, the No. 9 overall prospect in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2024 will visit the Sooners this weekend. It would be quite the haul if Oklahoma could land both, but Texas A&M football seems to be emerging as a genuine threat for Stone.

We’ll see how this visit goes to College Station this weekend.

Florida State building college football recruiting momentum

Florida State football was one of our biggest winners in the transfer portal in 2023 and the Seminoles are taking the momentum of their 10-win season and carrying it over to the recruiting trail.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports put in crystal ball projections for Florida State football to land a pair of four-star interior offensive linemen in the 2024 class in Jason Zandamela and Jonathan Daniels.

Daniels is ranked 112th overall in the 2024 class and is the No. 7 interior offensive lineman at 6-foot-3, 280 pounds out of Pensacola, Florida. Zandamela is 6-foot-3, 285 pounds out of Clearwater, Florida, and is ranked 255th overall and 17th among IOL.

Offensive linemen aren’t always sexy commitments. However, the best teams win in the trenches and if those predictions prove to be true, they will be solid gets for Florida State football.
