Three programs with lots of momentum in the 2024 college football recruiting class are Oklahoma, Michigan, and Florida State.

When talking about teams with momentum on the college football recruiting trail right now, it’s hard to deny that Oklahoma, Michigan, and Florida State have things going in the right direction.

The Seminoles and Wolverines are both ranked in the top 10 of the 2024 college football recruiting rankings and both programs have gotten some key crystal ball predictions in recent weeks.

Michigan football has really been trending with a number of top targets after a recent visit weekend and the same can be said for Oklahoma football. The Sooners just landed a talented 2025 quarterback and while they don’t have any commitments in the 2024 class — that’s going to change soon.

So here’s a look at why each program is viewed by me as having momentum on the college football recruiting trail right now, starting with Oklahoma football.

Oklahoma football

The Sooners landed Kevin Sperry, a 2025 quarterback, and were just projected to land Michael Hawkins, a four-star signal-caller in the 2024 class. Hawkins is ranked 248th overall via the 247 sports composite rankings but is a top-20 quarterback nationally.

Oklahoma football also landed Jackson Arnold, the No. 8 overall player in the 2023 college football recruiting class and the No. 4 overall quarterback. So even though Brent Venables is known for being a defensive guru, his recruiting has been off the charts. It’s been especially solid at the quarterback position.

Oklahoma was also projected (by crystal balls) to land four-star running back Caden Durham, who is ranked 202nd overall and is another talented player out of the state of Texas. When you consider a recent projection for five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri, that’s why OU makes our list of teams with recruiting momentum right now.
