Virginia Tech Hokies:

Kyron Drones, Quarterback: Baylor transfer Kyron Drones should have every opportunity to start this fall despite Grant Wells, last season’s starting quarterback, returning. Wells has been inconsistent during his career, but Drones has not played much football. Drones, a four-star recruit coming out of high school, has a high ceiling with loads of tools.

The Hokies need some juice on offense, no matter who starts. Wells threw just nine touchdown passes last season. Drones are a plus in the running game and could give the opposing defense trouble if he can put it all together.

Ali Jennings, Wide Receiver: Jennings could be one of the steals of the transfer portal. The Old Dominion transfer began his career in West Virginia. He became one of the most productive wide receivers in the Group of Five during his two years with the Monarchs.

Jennings is a much-needed signing, with last season’s leading receiver, Kaleb Smith, signing with Notre Dame. Jennings and Norfolk State transfer Da’Quan Felton will likely play early and often for the Hokies.

Ayden Greene, Wide Receiver: Greene is also an incoming freshman to keep an eye on this fall. There are a lot of veteran wide receivers returning in Blacksburg, but Greene has some tools that could get him on the field on day one. Greene has speed, is dynamic in space, and has tremendous body control. He could be an immediate asset on special teams, returning kicks and punts.
