College football recruiting: A legacy crystal ball for Notre Dame, elite QB visits, and more
It’s a big visit weekend in terms of college football recruiting and Notre Dame football is trending with a legacy, plus Georgia and Michigan are hosting elite QBs.
Jerome Bettis was a Notre Dame football legend and after his son received an offer from the Fighting Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, it seems like he could be following in the footsteps of his dad.
The son of the former Notre Dame football running back/fullback is also named Jerome Bettis and is a wide receiver in the 2025 college football recruiting class.
Bettis was part of a big recruiting event hosted by Notre Dame football and a ton of offers went out during the day — one of which was for the 6-foot-2, 175-pound receiver.
Tom Loy of Irish Illustrated put in a crystal ball prediction. So did Steve Wiltfong, the lead college football recruiting analyst for 247 sports. Who knows when a commitment could come but it seems like Bettis is destined to play for the Fighting Irish.
Michigan football hosting Jadyn Davis
Michigan is a team that has momentum on the college football recruiting trail. That’s been well-documented and the Wolverines are hoping to build on that this weekend with a huge visit weekend on tap.
Brandyn Hillman, a former Notre Dame football signee for 2023, will be taking an official visit and could be joining the 2023 class soon. That would be a solid addition for the Wolverines, especially because they were a little short on four-star recruits.
Still, the most important visitor this weekend is five-star QB Jadyn Davis. The No. 16 overall prospect in the 2024 college football recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, has visited Michigan a bunch of times.
The Wolverines are the clear leader but they need to seal the deal. Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State, and others are lingering. They wil only push harder if Michigan can’t close with the five-star signal-caller.
Georgia to host Dylan Raiola and lands another 2024 commitment
Georgia has the No. 1 college football recruiting class in 2024 and the Bulldogs added to it on Friday with the pledge of four-star defensive back Demello Jones.
Jones is 6-foot-1, 176 pounds and is ranked 156th overall according to the On3 Industry rankings. He’s out of Swainsboro, Georgia, and the Bulldogs were able to land his commitment over Alabama, South Carolina, and UCF among others.
However, in even bigger news for UGA, the Bulldogs are hosting five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola for a visit this weekend. The Bulldogs have gotten overlooked in this recruitment all of a sudden and this is a chance to turn the tide.
Wilftong changed his crystal ball recently from Georgia to USC and we’ll see if the Bulldogs can cause a shift this weekend with the top-ranked quarterback in the 2024 class.
