Looking ahead to the 2023 Nebraska football season, here are three newcomers who will make the biggest impact for the Huskers.

Every team in college football has a bunch of turnover heading into the 2023 season and Nebraska football is no different, especially with a new head coach.

The Huskers have about 39 new scholarship players right now and that number could grow depending on what happens in the second transfer portal window this spring.

Nebraska football could still use another pass rusher, another offensive tackle, and maybe even another defensive back or two for depth purposes.

There are some positions that can’t get enough talent…ever. But in terms of guys that are going to make big impacts season among the newcomers (transfers and recruits) here are three Nebraska football players to keep an eye on.

LB/EDGE MJ Sherman (transfer)

Sherman is listed by Nebraska football as a linebacker. He could play some traditional outside linebacker but he’s also going to get some pass-rush opportunities.

While he couldn’t get on the field much at Georgia, Sherman has played on special teams. He was rated as a three-star transfer by 247 sports in the portal, so fans should temper their expectations just because he played at Georgia.

Yet, I expect him to be a starter next season for the Huskers. His size, speed, and tackling ability will be important. I also think he’ll end up being one of the better pass rushers/blitzers in the 3-3-5 defense in 2023 under new defensive coordinator Tony White.
