USC football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2023
Lincoln Riley has done an impressive job with USC football in just a short period of time. He’s turned the Trojans back into a winner in just one season as USC was fighting for a playoff spot behind the arm of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams.
USC came up just short and went 11-3, losing in the Cotton Bowl and finishing No. 12 in the AP Poll.
The Trojans bring back their Heisman-winning quarterback along with an electrifying offense and an improving defense behind the No. 8 recruiting class and one of the best transfer classes in the country.
What can we expect from this team in 2023?
San Jose State gets the unfortunate task of facing a playoff-hungry USC team with an electrifying offense. The Spartans won’t stand much of a chance to open the season as the Trojans will open the floodgates on the Group of Five foe and cruise to a massive win.
I expect this one to be over by halftime.
Prediction: Win (1-0)
San Jose State finished second in the Mountain West’s West division last season with a 7-5 record. Nevada? Well, the Wolf Pack were much, much worse, finishing 2-10 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. After a 2-0 start to the year, they lost 10 straight games.
This one also won’t be very close.
USC is going to race out to a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and Nevada will be mailing it in by then.
Prediction: Win (2-0)
