BYU football: When is the Cougars’ 2023 spring game?

The 2022 season wasn’t exactly the most impressive for BYU football and Kalani Sitake. A year after going 10-3 and two years after an 11-1 campaign, the Cougars finished just 8-5.

Jaren Hall had an impressive season at quarterback and while the Cougars didn’t exactly live up to the preseason hype, the talented passer did. Still, going 7-5 in the regular season meant that not many people got to see Hall succeed on a national stage.

Now Sitake must replace Hall and do so while joining a conference simultaneously. The Cougars will be playing their first season in the Big 12 in 2023 and they’ll rely on veteran quarterback Kedon Slovis, a Pitt transfer, to bring them success.

Will the Big 12 be kind to Slovis and the Cougars? My guess is no, but at least BYU will only have to see Texas and Oklahoma for a year as they both leave for the SEC next season.

There are plenty of question marks surrounding this year’s BYU team and some of those might be answered during spring ball.

When is the BYU football spring game?

If you’re hoping to get an early look at BYU before the season kicks off in the fall, the spring game actually takes place on Friday, March 31.

The Cougars are actually hosting the earliest Power Five spring game of the year, just one day before Michigan hosts its scrimmage. It also feels a little weird to call BYU a “Power Five” program after it spent so long in the Independent ranks.

This will be a chance to see the post-Hall offense and to see if BYU has the look of a legit Big 12 contender. It’ll be at 5 p.m. ET and broadcast on BYUtv.
