Head coach Mark Stoops and his offensive staff were not going into this season without a proven commodity at quarterback. Last season’s starting quarterback, Will Levis, is off to the green pastures of the NFL. Stoops and his staff signed arguably the best quarterback in the transfer portal, NC State transfer Devin Leary.

There is an argument that Leary is an upgrade over Levis. Leary was atop many NFL Draft big boards before his injury in 2022. He’s a proven veteran and playmaker who will keep things going in the right direction for the Wildcats. The only concern is the injury history.

Stoops and his staff were aggressive in getting Leary receivers this off-season. Incoming freshman Anthony Brown is one offensive coordinator Liam Coen is high on. Brown was productive in high school and is explosive in space. His speed is going to get him snaps this fall.

Keep an eye on wide receiver/tight end Jakob Dixon. He’s the prototypical Kentucky recruit. Dixon was not highly recruited out of high school but is an elite pass catcher. At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, he has the size to compete for snaps. He’s not sudden on the snap but can separate and run past defenders in the open field.
