Lane Kiffin is the self-proclaimed “Portal King” and we continue to see why that is. Ole Miss football continues to bring in elite talent from the portal, and the 2023 class is no different.

The Rebels are entering the 2023 season with elevated expectations following a somewhat successful 2022 season.

But for the Rebels to enjoy that success, these newcomers will need to step up.

The Ole Miss defense definitely needs some help and Lane Kiffin made sure it got that from the transfer portal as he landed a number of guys who could start next season.

Monty Montgomery is one of those guys.

The Louisville linebacker transfer is coming off a career year with the Cardinals in which he recorded 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, six sacks, two picks, two pass breakups, and four forced fumbles. He could come in and not only compete for a starting job immediately but push for a spot on one of the All-SEC teams.

Montgomery is going to be just what the defense needed and I’d be shocked if he wasn’t an immediate starter for the Rebels and probably the best linebacker on the team next year — and that includes an incoming five-star linebacker.
