The 2023 season is still months away, but spring ball has everyone excited about the return of football. And USC football fans are extra excited because, well, there are national title expectations in Los Angeles this year.

Lincoln Riley is bringing in one of the best classes in the country along with an elite crop of transfers that should have an immediate impact.

Which newcomers will have the biggest impacts in 2023, however?

Texas A&M was an absolute nightmare in 2022 and a lot of former elite Aggie recruits decided to opt for a fresh start elsewhere in the offseason. Anthony Lucas was one of them.

Lucas, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive lineman from Arizona, decided to transfer back out west and chose the program that is on the quickest rise in the Pac-12. Now that he’s a Trojan, there’s a good chance the former five-star and top-50 recruit will be in the starting rotation on that USC defensive line.

The Scottsdale native could play tackle or end next season and that versatility, along with his elite talent, will serve him well in the Pac-12. He’s going to dominate right away.

As a freshman in 2022, he had just 10 tackles and a tackle for loss in seven games with the Aggies but I can see those numbers skyrocket in 2023. I have high hopes for the former five-star and there’s a reason there’s a ton of excitement surrounding this transfer addition.
