Ohio State football: 3 takeaways from 2023 spring game
Ryan Day and Ohio State football held its annual spring game on Saturday afternoon and while fans were excited about some of the new players, including at quarterback, there were some concerns regarding the Buckeyes.
Still, this is a team that’s going to compete for a College Football Playoff berth and a Big Ten title, but at Ohio State, that’s the bare minimum.
What did we learn from Saturday’s spring game?
3. The offensive line has a lot of improving to do
Ryan Day alluded to this after the scrimmage was over, but the offensive line was relatively inconsistent all afternoon long. In fact, it looked like the defensive line won almost every battle and Kyle McCord was sent running for his life all afternoon.
If Ohio State is going to take a step back in the right direction of Big Ten title and College Football Playoff berth, it needs the offensive line to figure things out in a hurry.
Ohio State can’t go into the season with the line looking like it did on Saturday because there will be some serious letdowns in that case.
Sure, this was basically just a practice, but Day said that what everyone saw on Saturday is what he’s been seeing in practice this spring.
