Georgia Football fans got some bad recruiting news Monday but also got some really good news with five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.

It would be understandable if Georgia football fans, at least the ones that follow recruiting closely, were a little disappointed following Florida State’s flip of five-star tight end Landen Thomas.

When Thomas flipped his long-time pledge to Georgia football, it was actually the second time in a few weeks’ time that the top tight end in a recruiting class chose another school.

Duce Robinson went to USC last month after UGA was the favorite. He was the top tight end in 2023 and now Thomas, the No. 1 tight end in the 2024 class, has committed to FSU.

However, Georgia football fans don’t need to be all gloom and doom. That’s because the Bulldogs have picked up two more crystal ball projections for five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and it’s starting to feel like this recruitment is a done deal for the Bulldogs.

Georgia is the heavy favorite for Dylan Raiola

As of now, Georgia is the only program that is scheduled to host Dylan Raiola for an official visit. Three other teams — Nebraska, USC, and Oregon — were viewed as being heavily in the mix going into this Month, but Raiola canceled trips to all three places.

The five-star quarterback said it was to focus on his new high school team and it makes sense, but it also seems connected to Georgia, which really established some momentum when it hosted Dylan Raiola for an unofficial visit in March.

Raiola has ties to Nebraska but the Huskers are coming off a 4-win season. Matt Rhule hasn’t coached a game there and it would be a big gamble to commit there. Georgia on the other hand, is a pretty safe option.

The Bulldogs have won back-to-back national titles with a former walk-on at quarterback. Just imagine what they could do with a superstar like Dylan Raiola?

Mike Bobo is the new offensive coordinator and while that raised some short-term questions, they seemed to be answered on the recent visit to Georgia. Two experts for 247 Sports that had projected Raiola to Nebraska, flipped their picks to the Bulldogs Monday.

That leaves just one crystal ball projection left for USC, but that will change too. Oregon and USC are focused on other quarterbacks and at this point, it seems clear that Dylan Raiola is going to end up as a Georgia Bulldog.
