Returning Rocket Sanders was a huge victory for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks. He’s one of the best running backs in the SEC and that means the backfield will be sewn up in 2023 with no question marks as to who the starter will be.

But AJ Green made his case for RB2 and a potential split-carry situation during the spring game. He was one of the top performers for the Razorbacks and showed why he deserves more carries in 2023 as a junior.

Green was one of the top recruits in the 2021 class before committing to Arkansas. He’s rushed for 641 yards and four touchdowns on 4.8 yards per carry through two years and during the spring game, he was the top rusher with eight carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. His 7.0 yards per carry average was a promising sight.

Will he take over for Sanders as the starter this season? No, but he’s definitely going to be the perfect complementary back.

I think we’re going to see Green have a career year in 2023.
