College football transfer portal: USC lands Bear Alexander, latest on Jordan Hudson, and more
One of the top players available in the college football transfer portal Bear Alexander has committed to USC plus more news and updates.
On Sunday night, the top-ranked player available in the college football transfer portal came off the board to the USC Trojans as Bear Alexander, the Georgia Bulldog, announced his commitment.
Alexander is the top transfer available according to On3.com and also according to this article by 247 Sports. It’s easy to see why. The 6-foot-3, 325-pounder flashed elite potential last season for the Bulldogs with two sacks in the national title game and more than a dozen hurries.
Guys that big that can rush the passer are pretty rare. That’s why it was a shock that he even entered the college football transfer portal. The No. 50 overall recruit in the 2022 class seemed destined for a big role with the Bulldogs.
Some might suggest it was about NIL. USC is kind of known for that, but whatever the reason, the Trojans got the crown jewel of the college football transfer portal this spring.
SMU trending as the favorite for Jordan Hudson
Jordan Hudson was another player that surprised some when he entered the college football transfer portal from TCU.
However, Garrett Riley did leave the Horned Frogs to be the offensive coordinator at Clemson and that could have had something to do with it. Or, it could be totally unrelated.
Whatever the reason, Hudson is a former top-100 recruit on the market. SMU has quickly established itself as the favorite according to On3.com, but Auburn is trying to get into the mix and is aiming to get Hudson in for a visit, which could change things.
Favorites emerging for elite O-line in college football transfer portal
If you didn’t know the name of Emmanuel Pregnon until recently, or if you still don’t, you shouldn’t feel bad. The entire college football world missed on the 6-foot-6, 318-pounder coming out of high school.
Pregnon became a starter last season for Wyoming and has received a ton of interest since entering the college football transfer portal. 247 Sports reports that Tennessee, Auburn, Penn State, USC, and Miami are in the mix.
It wouldn’t be stunned if he ended up playing at USC. Some of these small-school guys are determined to take advantage of their NIL opportunity. Yet, with Tennessee, Auburn, and Miami on the board, as well as plenty of other college football teams, Pregnon has no shortage of options. He did visit the Trojans though so I’d peg them as the favorite because it’s a position of need.
The No. 3 transfer portal player right now has elite potential and with few quality offensive linemen available, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
