Dalton Kincaid: Grading the Bills’ No. 25 overall NFL Draft pick
There were about a million first-round trades on Thursday night (don’t fact-check this) and the Bills traded up to No. 25 to take the Jaguars’ pick after they traded down to No. 25 with the Giants. It’s pretty clear that all of these teams just wanted to jump in front of the Dallas Cowboys.
With the No. 25 overall pick, the Bills selected star tight end Dalton Kincaid.
The Bills felt like they needed to move right in front of the Cowboys who have been pretty openly looking for a tight end in the draft and they got arguably the best on in this draft.
Kincaid has had an interesting career, walking on at San Diego before heading to Utah and playing just one game in 2020. He took over in 2021 and finished with 510 yards and eight touchdowns on 36 catches and then exploded for 890 yards and eight scores on 70 receptions in 2022.
Many scouts and draft experts graded him as the top tight end in the draft, ahead of Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer, so jumping ahead of the Cowboys was a major win for the Bills.
This is going to give franchise quarterback Josh Allen yet another weapon.
Grading Bills’ selection of Dalton Kincaid
No one thought Kincaid or Mayer would be available this late in the first round, but the Bills saw the opportunity to trade up and get a future star in the league.
I think Kincaid has the potential to be a top 5-10 tight end in the league and he’s only going to flourish with Allen throwing him the football.
