3. Georgia

When it comes to quarterback competitions, the Georgia Bulldogs also have an interesting one going on, except you don’t see Georgia looking for transfer portal quarterbacks like the Crimson Tide.

That tells me that Kirby Smart feels good about his quarterback room and he should. Carson Beck was ranked 250th overall in the 2020 class, but he’s trending as the next starter coming out of camp. People shouldn’t underrate him either.

Brock Vandagriff also stuck around to continue fighting for the job this fall. He could have transferred and been handed a starting job somewhere else as a former five-star quarterback in 2021, who ranked 17th overall, but decided to stay, which was important for UGA.

If Beck does win the job and Vandagriff is the backup, with former No. 124 overall prospect Gunnar Stockton, from the 2022 class as the No. 3, well, you can see why the Bulldogs are ranked where they are.

Alabama might have higher-ranked recruits overall, but I’d take Georgia’s top three over Alabama’s heading into the 2023 college football season.
