Like Notre Dame, NC State upgraded at the quarterback position this offseason, bringing in Brennan Armstrong from Virginia. He never really became a household name there because the program was so down, but it feels like he could excel under Dave Doreen.

However, after watching Sam Hartman dominate this spring, my expectations for the Irish have risen and I think this is a game that Notre Dame wins on the road and makes a statement nationally.

NC State is a solid team, but Notre Dame is just better.

Prediction: Win (3-0)

Poor Central Michigan will get the drum-beating treatment that Tennessee State did two weeks earlier in South Bend.

Jim McElwain and the Chippewas went just 4-8 last year and I don’t see a ton of improvement coming for this MAC program. Maybe Central makes a bowl game this year but it surely isn’t going on the road to beat Notre Dame in Week 3.

Prediction: Win (4-0)
