There have been some major additions during the college football transfer portal this spring and here are the top five so far.

Not long ago, we ranked the top five quarterbacks that were added in the college football transfer portal this offseason, but just in the spring, there have been a bunch of key additions.

More are coming too. Keon Coleman is still out there. He’s visited Florida State, Ole Miss, and could also visit Texas A&M. There’s also the chance he could go back to the Spartans. You just never really know.

There are some really talented running backs too in Logan Diigs, formerly of Notre Dame, as well as former Houston running back Alton McCaskill still available.

5. Casey Thompson to FAU

It opened some eyes when Casey Thompson entered the college football transfer portal this spring and chose FAU.

However, if you investigate a little further, it makes a ton of sense. For one, Thompson’s former head coach Tom Herman has taken over the Owls. There is a familiarity with the staff.

Beyond that, the Owls return 83 percent of their production from a season ago according to ESPN and that’s first among the American Athletic Conference. When you add Thompson into the mix, a quarterback that started for Nebraska last season and had interest from Auburn, it’s a big upgrade.

When talking about Group of Five teams that could make some noise this season, the Owls could be in the mix. At the very least, after back-to-back five-win seasons, Thompson should help Florida Atlantic to a bowl game. If that happens, his NFL stock will be higher too.
