3 thoughts on commitment of Dylan Raiola to Georgia Football
What’s next for Nebraska football and Matt Rhule?
It’s safe to say that Nebraska football finished as the runner-up for Dylan Raiola. There was even chatter earlier Monday about the five-star QB taking a visit in June.
Now, that’s not going to happen and the Huskers have to basically start from scratch at the quarterback position in the 2024 class.
Daniel Kaelin is a really good in-state option. He’s ranked inside the top 500 overall and is compared to Kirk Cousins by 247 Sports, but he was spurned a little by Rhule and company as they pushed for Raiola.
You can’t blame the Nebraska football coaching staff for doing that. But Kaelin is now 110 percent committed to Missouri as he announced when he committed to the Tigers and it’s hard to know if he would consider the Huskers after they essentially decided to recruit Raiola over him.
Kamari McClellan is supposed to visit Nebraska football on the weekend of June 2nd and with Raiola off the board (he probably did the Huskers a favor with the timing), Rhule and his staff can evaluate McClellan and see if they want to extend an offer.
OC Marcus Satterfield knows him well after recruiting him while he was still at South Carolina. Beyond that, Nebraska needs to focus on getting one or two quarterbacks in the 2025 class.
The Huskers might also need to look for a quarterback or two in the transfer portal now, and after the season, depending on how Jeff Sims does this fall.
This outcome was probably expected but it’s still disappointing for Nebraska football fans. There was hope, but Georgia football was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
