When does the 2023 college football season start?
When does the 2023 college football season start? We answer that question and more.
It’s May 18th and the 2023 college football season is exactly 100 days away, which seems like a perfect time to look at the beginning of the 2023 season.
The first question some college football fans might have about the 2023 season, is when does it begin? Telling you that it’s 100 days from May 18th doesn’t do any of us much good (unless you have a calendar and are good at math).
At any rate, the college football regular season will kick off in Week 0 with a slate of seven games that will take place on Aug. 26. That’s the date that you need to have marked on your calendar.
I know that Week 0 doesn’t always have a schedule of marquee games but there are a few big-name programs taking the field in 100 days (or less) depending on when you read this.
Week 0 college football schedule
Fansided.com put together a list of the Week 0 games for college football. It should be noted that both Notre Dame and USC will have games during the opening weekend of the 2023 season as the Irish will head overseas to Dublin to take on the Naval Academy.
USC will be the first Pac-12 team to play next season, which is ironic because it will be the Trojans’ final season in that league. They will start their run at getting to the College Football Playoff against San Jose State.
Hawaii will play Vanderbilt after the Commodores made the trip to the Island for Week 0 of the 2022 college football season and lambasted the Rainbow Warriors.
The other Week 0 games for 2023 are FIU at Louisiana Tech, UMass at New Mexico State, UTEP at Jacksonville State, and Ohio at San Diego State.
It’s not the most dazzling set of games, but after waiting these 100 days or so for the season to start, I don’t think fans will care. I know I won’t.
