The rich just keep getting richer. Oregon football had a top-10 recruiting class for 2024 heading into decision day for four-star defensive lineman Xadavien Sims and now the Ducks are up to No. 6. Not a bad day.

Dan Lanning went into Oklahoma and landed one of the top prospects in the state after being the last team in his top five to extend an offer.

Oregon offered him in the winter and it beat Michigan State, Oklahoma, TCU, and Vanderbilt for his services. The previous favorite, Michigan State, lost some ground after its pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan as well as its defensive line coach Marco Coleman went to the NFL and Georgia Tech, respectively. Oklahoma also had the draw of being the in-state program.

Now, he’s headed to Oregon to join Lanning and the Ducks who seem to be trending up in a big way.

Oregon football is building something special

When Lanning was hired away from Georgia it felt like a big deal for Oregon. He had just won a national title as a defensive coordinator and he knew what it took to win big.

And he can recruit like crazy — as we can all clearly see.

Now, Oregon is in a better position than when Mario Cristobal was in charge. If you told Duck fans that was going to happen after Cristobal left suddenly for Miami, they would have called you crazy. But this hire has seemed to be a home run, so far.

After landing yet another elite prospect, Lanning is building a potential top-10 class for 2024 and if he can continue to win on the field this season, the recruiting will continue to take care of itself.
