Three games are going to define the Notre Dame football season in 2023 and here’s a ranking of the three hardest games for the Fighting Irish.

The expectations are high for Notre Dame football heading into the 2023 season and for good reason. Notre Dame has a stellar defense and one of the top quarterbacks in college football coming over via the transfer portal.

Quarterback was one thing that held back the Irish a season ago as they won nine games, but the defense and running game carried the way and with Sam Hartman slinging it, the Notre Dame football team should be a playoff contender.

Yet, since the Irish haven’t joined a conference and can’t win a conference championship, they don’t have much room for error. Two years ago, Notre Dame football missed the playoff despite going 11-1 as Cincinnati beat the Irish and earned the bid.

With USC and Ohio State each coming to South Bend, as well as a road game against Clemson, Notre Dame football will have plenty of chances to impress the committee in 2023.

And speaking of games Notre Dame needs to win, here is a ranking of the three hardest games for the Irish this season.

3. At Clemson (Nov. 4)

Playing a road game against Clemson is never easy. However, the Tigers haven’t been the same program since Trevor Lawrence left.

They did win the ACC last season and Cade Klubnik has big-time potential at quarterback. If Klubnik takes a big step forward this season, this game will feel more difficult.

It’s still a huge challenge and one of the games Notre Dame could easily lose in 2023, however, compared to USC and Ohio State, I’ll take a road trip to Death Valley.
