Looking ahead to the 2023 Nebraska football season, here are the three games that will be the most difficult for the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska football fans can’t wait for the start of the 2023 season. It’s going to be a fresh start under new head coach Matt Rhule after the misery of the last four years under Scott Frost.

Every offseason, Nebraska football fans got their hopes up, only to have them crushed relatively early in the regular season. Last year, it happened with the losses to Northwestern, and then at home against Georgia Southern which proved to be the final straw for AD Trev Alberts.

Rhule and the Huskers face a challenging slate in 2023, but it’s not impossible. It features Michigan, but not Ohio State or Penn State from the Big Ten East.

There are some landmines early and some difficult road games and here’s a look at the three most difficult games for Nebraska football in 2023.

3. Iowa (at home Nov. 24)

Nebraska denied Iowa the chance to make the Big Ten title game last season with an upset win at Kinnick Stadium. This time around, the Huskers are hoping to be in the mix for the Big Ten West title and you never know what this season will bring.

Michigan transfer Cade McNamara should have Iowa better on the offensive side of the ball. The defense has been elite and should continue to be really solid. Erick All, the tight end from Michigan, is one of the more underrated additions in the portal.

This will be a tough game for Nebraska — one the Huskers can win, but by November, Iowa should be playing like a Big Ten West title contender.
