Lane Kiffin calls himself the “Portal King” for a reason. Every year, he’s proving just how well-earned this self-proclaimed nickname is. Ole Miss football has been a landing spot for some of the nation’s top transfers.

A good number of his starters on the offensive side of the ball heading into the 2023 season are former transfers such as Jaxson Dart, Michael Trigg, Chris Marshall, and Tre Harris.

And it appears he’s not done adding weapons yet.

UTSA receiver Zakhari Franklin is one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and it looks like Ole Miss is the current favorite to land him. On Saturday, Ole Miss 247Sports insider David Johnson placed a crystal ball for the Rebels to land the coveted wideout from the Group of Five.

Franklin would immediately upgrade that receiver room and it would make Ole Miss’ offense one of the best and most explosive in the nation.

Franklin could immediately be Ole Miss football’s WR1

Kiffin already went out and got Harris and Marshall from the transfer portal and he put the full-court press on Keon Coleman before he transferred to Florida State.

Now, he’s turning up the heat on Franklin.

The former UTSA star had 262 catches for 3,348 yards and 37 touchdowns in four years with the Roadrunners. That production would be more than welcomed in Oxford and it would likely turn him into Ole Miss’ next NFL draft pick at receiver.

He would immediately become the team’s WR1, challenging Jordan Watkins.

If I’m an Ole Miss fan, I’m ecstatic about the potential receiving corps with Franklin joining Watkins, Harris, and Marshall.
