Some of the best college football matchups in 2023 will take place at neutral sites and here are the five best. 

The start of the next college football season may still be three months away. But now that Memorial Day weekend is over, it’s never too early to get excited about the early season Kickoff games that await us to start the new season.

Neutral site games have not only become popular but are almost a fixture of college football’s early season.  Besides great television ratings, the average payout for these bigger games have been north of $4 million according to AL.com., which obtained the contracts for Alabama’s neutral site game for 2018 (Louisville), 2019 (Duke), and 2021(Miami) it was very lucrative as Alabama made $14 million combined for those three neutral site contests.

Here is an early look at the five most intriguing neutral site matchups early in the 2023 college football season.

1. LSU vs. Florida StateCamping World Kickoff Game,  Orlando, Florida

This is the final game of a two-year neutral site series and promises to be just as exciting as last year when FSU beat LSU with a blocked extra point that prevented the Tigers ​​from tying the game — all in the last two minutes.

This is just the eleventh time that FSU and LSU will meet and the Seminoles hold an 8-2 all-time series lead over the Tigers. The Noles finished 2022 10-3, with a victory over Oklahoma in the  Cheez-It Bowl. FSU looks primed to make a run at an ACC Championship and possibly a College Football Playoff berth.

After last year’s loss, LSU went on to win the SEC West as they finished 10-4. The Tigers are looking to get back to the SEC Championship game in 2023 and a berth in the College Football Playoff, so this is an important game. Whoever wins this contest will be able to talk up their resume come December.
