The Fighting Irish were busy in the month of May, picking up a total of five commitments in the 2024 college football recruiting class.

Loghan Thomas was the biggest addition. He’s ranked 177th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and his commitment came soon after Notre Dame football lost the pledge of Owen Wafle, who appears headed to Michigan.

Four-star wideout Micah Gilbert committed to Notre Dame and he’s 6-foot-3, 203 pounds. Bodie Kahoun is another pledge and he’s a top-500 linebacker, while also landing Kennedy Urlacher, the son of Brian Urlacher, and Teddy Rezac.

The Irish are up to 16 commitments and their class is ranked fourth overall. Yet, even a guy like Rezac, the lower-ranked commit, could be a steal. He’s ranked No. 811 overall. The Irish made a stronger push than Nebraska which offered just days before his commitment.

That was one of the most impressive recruiting wins in May for the Irish, in terms of identifying a talented, but under-ranked kid.

Overall, this is shaping up to be another really good recruiting class for Notre Dame football under Marcus Freeman.
