Big 12 2023 Heisman Trophy contender: Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

This wasn’t probably the easiest call from all of the major conferences in college football as Quinn Ewers is clearly the top Heisman contender to me in the Big 12.

Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel could also work his way into the mix. However, it’s the same kind of thing with the Big Ten, whichever QBs wins that Red River Rivalry game is going to have a big factor on who emerges as the top contender.

The Texas offense is going to be dynamic. Xavier Worthy is a first-round pick in waiting and a full season of him and Ewers connecting is going to be dangerous. The Longhorns should have a good shot to finally win something (a conference title) and if they somehow emerged as a College Football Playoff contender, Ewers could easily find himself in New York.
