College Football: 5 new offensive coordinators that’ll have big impacts
We rank five new offensive coordinators that will have the biggest impacts on the 2023 college football season.
There are a number of college football powers that will have new starting quarterbacks going into the 2023 season. A bunch also have new play callers.
Alabama has a new offensive coordinator. So do Georgia, TCU, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Texas A&M. That’s not everyone either.
These new offensive coordinators will have a big impact on the upcoming college football season and here’s a look at five that will have the biggest impact.
5. Phil Longo, Wisconsin football
The Wisconsin football program is going to look different this season. That’s one thing we know for sure. The Badgers have hired an Air-Raid offensive coordinator, which is a dramatic shift from the ground-and-pound offense of the past few decades.
Braelon Allen is still on the team though. Longo might love throwing the ball but will he really ignore his best player?
Tanner Mordecai is a solid quarterback. The Badgers have also upgraded their wide receivers. But it will be interesting to see how all this works for Wisconsin football.
I understand the shift. Luke Fickell is an elite defensive mind. He probably figures if his defense is elite, then a high-powered offense should allow the Badgers to compete with the best in the Big Ten.
It’s solid logic. However, in practice, it might look different and I’m fascinated by what the 2023 season looks like for Wisconsin football.
