5 intriguing games on the 2024 SEC football schedule

The 2024 SEC football conference games were released on Wednesday night and here are five games that caught my eye. 

We don’t know the exact dates of all the 2024 SEC football games, but the conference opponents were released and there are some juicy matchups to look forward to in 2024.

One reason why the 2024 SEC football schedule release, at least of conference opponents was so anticipated is the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC in 2024.

Most of the games on this list will feature one of those two new teams, who wil be playing very strong schedules in their first season of SEC football.

Yet, there are other games that are intriguing too, and here are five SEC football games I’m looking forward to in 2024.

Georgia at Alabama

This will end a five-year drought of these teams not playing in the regular season. It’s really interesting that it will also come in the first season without SEC football divisions.

The winner of this game should have a leg up and in the new system, the loser might have a tough way of getting back into the SEC championship.

Georgia at Texas

We got word of this 2024 SEC football game on social media earlier in the day. I’m glad that Georgia is headed to Texas, which will be a marquee matchup.

The Bulldogs desperately wanted Arch Manning. He signed with Texas and that could be his first and maybe only start against Georgia. Who knows, maybe Dylan Raiola will be starting the game for UGA.

Or, maybe it’s Quinn Ewers against Carson Beck. That would surprise me though. I fully expect Arch Manning to be starting when the Bulldogs come to 40 acres.

Oklahoma at LSU

Another really intriguing matchup on the SEC football schedule. Oklahoma and LSU are both traditional powers. They also have two of the most passionate fanbases in college football.

Tiger Stadium is always insanely loud and it will be packed for this matchup against the Sooners as they make their SEC football debut in 2024.

It will be interesting to see where Oklahoma football is headed, which is why 2023 is an important season. However, I think 2022 was a fluke and that Sooners will win double-digit games going into the SEC.

Alabama at Oklahoma

Speaking of fun SEC football matchups in 2024, Alabama and Oklahoma is another historic matchup. It’s a game we’ll see much more in the future.

There have only been six matchups between Alabama and Oklahoma during their history. The last was in the College Football Playoff in 2018 and any diehard college football fan will have a hard time not watching when the Crimson Tide head to Norman in 2024.

Texas at Texas A&M

This game will have been 13 years in the making when Texas and Texas A&M finally meet in 2024. Their last rivalry game was back in 2011.

It’s hard to believe that the Southwestern Conference rivals went to the Big 12 and then went their separate ways before Texas finally joined the SEC with Oklahoma.

One good thing about this mega conference is that the Texas-A&M rivalry will be back on, starting in 2024 in College Station.
