The 2024 BYU football recruiting class is currently at six commits and is just inside the top 70 nationally. The Cougars could soon be landing their top tight end target and a guy who would be the top-rated commit in the class.

Ryner Swanson, a four-star tight end from Laguna Beach, Calif., just visited both Texas and Oregon over the past two official visit weekends but his trip to BYU on June 13 may have changed the game.

According to the 247Sports crystal ball, BYU is now the only school to receive a projection to land him. He is still technically on his official visit to Provo but this is a good sign.

The crystal ball prediction came in from BYU insider Jeff Hansen with a confidence level of four.

While this is nowhere near “lock” status, it’s a good sign for Kalani Sitake and the Cougars. They are the early leaders for the talented tight end from California.

This would be a huge win for BYU football

Sitake has yet to land a top-1,000 prospect in his 2024 class, but that could change soon with Swanson wrapping up his official visits for the month of June.

BYU, Texas, and Oregon are the three teams listed as “warm” for Swanson and it looks to be a three-team race to land the four-star tight end.

Swanson is ranked the No. 387 overall recruit and 19th-best tight end in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He also holds offers from the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Louisville, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Pitt, Purdue, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas A&M, Utah, and Washington.

Landing him would be a massive recruiting win for BYU.
