The 2024 SEC schedule has been released and Texas A&M football will have its hands full with their opponents, which includes the Texas Longhorns at home.

It’s been a long time, a really long time. There’s been plenty of internet bickering and name-calling by anonymous posters and people-who-should-know-better alike. The source of ire? A rivalry between the Lone Star State’s flagship schools. Finally, for the first time since 2011, Texas A&M football will play the Texas Longhorns again.

The maroon and orange haven’t met on the gridiron since 2011 when Justin Tucker drilled a field goal that silenced a packed house in College Station.

When Texas announced it would be joining the SEC — along with Oklahoma — it was only a matter of time before the greatest game in the state was officially resumed. Well, the 2024 SEC schedule is out and the rivalry showdown between the Aggies and the Longhorns is officially back on.

Thank goodness.

Longstanding arguments can now be settled on the field, at least until the two sides square off the next time. That future date has yet to be determined, but the expectation is that both sides will meet annually, just like they did more than a decade before.

In addition to the Longhorns, Texas A&M football is set to play a star-studded 2024 schedule. At home, the Aggies will play conference foes LSU, Missouri and Texas as well as host non-conference games against Notre Dame, Bowling Green, New Mexcio State and McNeese. They’ll play Arkansas in Arlington and travel to Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State and South Carolina.

All those other games are window-dressing right now, though. The rivalry is back. Gig’em.
