Wednesday was a big day for SEC football fans. And yes, that now includes Texas and Oklahoma. While the Sooners and Longhorns still have another year left in the Big 12, they got their first glimpse of what an SEC slate is like.

And, boy, they are probably not excited about it.

But I still don’t see them having one of the three toughest schedules in the conference in 2024, although Oklahoma is right up there.

Here are my three toughest 2024 SEC slates, ranked.

3. Georgia Bulldogs

I was tempted to put Oklahoma right here, but the Sooners have two very winnable road games as well as a home slate that could play right into their favor. Getting Alabama at home instead of on the road is a huge win for Oklahoma and that’s why I have Georgia here.

But here’s Georgia’s slate:

  • Auburn
  • Florida (Jacksonville)
  • Mississippi State
  • Tennessee
  • at Alabama
  • at Ole Miss
  • at Texas
  • at Kentucky

The home/neutral slate is very tame, but the road schedule is brutal. Going to Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas, and Kentucky could really mess with the playoff race. Those are four games that could go south quickly.

Alabama might be the toughest road game in the conference, Ole Miss is getting better every year, Texas should be a contender in year one in the SEC, and Kentucky is always tough.

Plus, the Bulldogs really only get three home games with the Florida matchup played in Jacksonville like always. This schedule is tough.
