USC football trending for 4-star S Marquis Gallegos ahead of Oregon visit
If there’s one thing Lincoln Riley does very well outside of winning big games and pushing for playoff berths, it’s recruit. The USC football coach has made Trojan fans very happy with the 2023 class and it feels like the 2024 cycle could be even better.
In the 2023 cycle, USC finished No. 7 in the country, according to 247Sports, which got the Riley era off to a heck of a start.
Currently, the Trojans have the No. 10 class in college football in 2024, but that could soon get even better as they’re closing in on one of the best safeties in this cycle.
In fact, the Trojans received a huge crystal ball for four-star safety Marquis Gallegos on Tuesday night from Greg Biggins who happens to be very connected out on the West Coast. This crystal ball also comes just a couple of days after his official visit to USC concluded and a few days before his Oregon trip kicks off.
This might mean that the Trojans are in a prime spot ahead of one last official and potentially before the four-star safety makes a decision.
Gallegos is the No. 253 overall prospect and No. 21 safety in the class, according to the composite, and he’s high on Notre Dame as well as USC and Oregon.
USC football building a heck of a defensive backfield in 2024
If USC is able to land Gallegos, that would give the Trojans three four-star prospects in the secondary. And, believe it or not, he would be the lowest-rated of the three.
The other two are cornerbacks in Marcelles Williams (No. 73 nationally) and Dakoda Fields (No. 85 nationally). These three would combine to have one of the best secondary classes in the country right on time to move to the Big Ten where defense is usually king.
Riley is addressing a major need in a big way. Gallegos could be the next to commit to USC.
