Oregon football has had an important official visit slate this month, hosting some of the top names in the 2024 class.

One of the top names that was recently on campus that happens to be a top priority for the defensive-minded Dan Lanning is Dylan Williams. He was on campus on June 9 and he was just at Washington this past weekend.

And yet, he’s looking like a lean for the Ducks.

On Thursday, Williams picked up arguably the most important 247Sports crystal ball that there is from Steve Wiltfong. Usually when he places a crystal ball, you have a really good idea of who leads in that recruitment.

Michigan State was looking like a legitimate threat along with UCLA and Miami, but with this Wiltfong crystal ball on Thursday, Oregon may be close to landing him.

Williams is ranked the No. 174 overall recruit in the class as well as the 17th-best linebacker, according to the composite.

Oregon football quietly putting together an elite class

We hear all about Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State piecing together elite recruiting classes, but what Oregon has been able to do thus far in 2024 has been impressive.

There was a little concern that the Ducks would see a bit of a regression on the recruiting trail when Mario Cristobal left, but that has been far from the case under Lanning. He’s been recruiting at an incredible level over the past two years and the roster may be as talented as it’s ever been.

Oregon has the No. 8 recruiting class in the country with 16 commitments and it looks like Williams might just improve that already-impressive crop of prospects.
