Nebraska Football trending for a major recruiting win
Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule is about to make another huge splash on the recruiting trail with in-state tight end Carter Nelson.
What Matt Rhule has done in putting together his first full recruiting class for Nebraska football is nothing short of impressive and it’s only going to get more impressive if the latest projections from recruiting analysts turn out to be true.
After flipping Daniel Kaelin from Missouri, following Dylan Raiola’s commitment to Georgia, the Huskers have been on fire.
On Friday, Rhule and Nebraska football landed the commitments of Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, the second and third-ranked players in the state, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class.
About a month ago, it didn’t feel like they would commit to Nebraska football. The same could be said about Carter Nelson who was projected to Georgia by Kipp Adams of 247 Sports and also Greg Smith of Rivals following his official visit to Athens.
It felt like Georgia was going to steal away the No. 1 player from the state of Nebraska. However, Nelson kept his official visit scheduled this weekend in Lincoln, and the Huskers, who have landed eight commitments in the past week, now have momentum with Nelson.
Momentum isn’t even the right word for it. Nelson’s commitment to Nebraska football seems like a done deal.
Earlier this week, he was spotted at a College World Series Game with Daniel Kaelin. Plus he’s been re-tweeting stuff from Hall and McMorris, including their announcements about their commitments earlier this week.
Everything feels like it’s coming together and starting on Friday, crystal ball projections have been coming in like crazy for the Huskers to land Nelson. There are five total now and Steve Wiltfong, the top analyst for 247 Sports just joined the fray too.
Greg Smith, who has covered Nebraska football recruiting for years, and is now at Rivals, switched his pick back to the Huskers from Georgia, and Sean Callahan, of Husker Online, also put in a pick for Nebraska.
It seems like a matter of when Carter Nelson commits to Nebraska, not if and that’s just massive considering he’s a top-100 tight end. Georgia has two tight ends in its class and still wants Nelson.
That’s how good he is and even though Matt Rhule hasn’t coached a game, the start to his Nebraska football tenure could not have gone any better.
