Bryce West has long been a target of Michigan and Ohio State football and the consensus opinion on his recruitment was that it was a two-team race between the rivals.

The four-star cornerback officially visited Michigan back on June 9 and there was a rumor circulating that he was heading back to Ann Arbor before his Ohio State official to kind of take in the program one more time. That seemed to be a development that had Ohio State fans scratching their heads and Michigan fans fist-pumping.

While that visit never happened, it was still interesting to see how enamored West was with the Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh even made a pitch to him, taking a subtle shot at Ohio State in the process.

In this pitch, he told West that “the best players in Ohio go to Michigan” which ruffled some feathers in Columbus.

On Saturday, West committed to Ohio State while on his official visit and did a little trolling of Harbaugh’s original quote.

Following his commitment to the Buckeyes, the four-star cornerback told Hayes Fawcett, “As they say, the best players in Ohio stay in Ohio.”

Again, shots fired.

Clearly this is a return serve on the Harbaugh quote that honestly didn’t hold a ton of bearing because the Wolverines haven’t exactly cleaned up in Ohio outside of landing a couple of big-time players in the 2024 class.

You have to love a good rivalry back-and-forth, though. This one is just getting started.

It’s pretty obvious, however, that West is a Buckeye through-and-through.
