Every Big Ten football team’s 2024 recruiting class ranked in top 60
The month of June has been kind to many Big Ten football teams. Programs like Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State have been recruiting furiously.
Even programs like Nebraska, Rutgers, and Illinois have been on the rise.
After watching Michigan and Ohio State lose in the College Football Playoff last year, it was evident that the conference needed to catch up to the SEC and maybe even the Big 12, talent-wise.
This weekend was a big one for a number of teams and with Michigan State landing two commitments, it rose to No. 59 in the national rankings, meaning that each Big Ten program had a top-60 class in 2024.
Big Ten football is clearly on the rise
The conference’s talent level is rising so much that it’s just one of two conferences to accomplish an impressive feat.
In fact, here’s where each Big Ten team ranks nationally after a big weekend:
- Ohio State: No. 2
- Michigan: No. 3
- Penn State: No. 6
- USC: No. 11
- Minnesota: No. 14
- Nebraska: No. 19
- Wisconsin: No. 22
- Rutgers: No. 23
- Iowa: No. 32
- Purdue: No. 34
- Illinois: No. 42
- UCLA: No. 51
- Northwestern: No. 53
- Indiana: No. 57
- Michigan State: No. 59
- Maryland: No. 60
The Big Ten is one of only two conferences (ACC being the other) with each team ranked in the top 60. That’s a whopping 16 teams ranked in the top half of recruiting rankings nationally. Yes, that even means programs like Indiana, Northwestern, and Rutgers.
Not even the mighty SEC has every team ranked in the top 60 as Missouri is the outlier at No. 81 overall.
Shocked? Me, too.
Maybe the Big Ten isn’t as far behind the SEC, talent-wise, as people might think.
