It’s been quite a run of commitments for Nebraska football as the Huskers landed two more 2024 recruits on Monday, which makes 10 in the last eight days.

There are plenty of teams with momentum in college football recruiting right now, but the Nebraska football program is as hot as anyone.

Over the last eight days, the Huskers have now landed 10 verbal commitments following the pledges of three-star running back Kewan Lacy and three-star safety Rex Guthrie.

Both recruits were on campus for official visits this past weekend and it appears that Nebraska football is going to clean up from that group of visitors.

There were six that went into the visit uncommitted. That number was eight before Isaiah McMorris and Dae’vonn Hall — two top-three prospects in the state in 2024 — committed last Friday to the Huskers on the first day of their official visits.

Of the six visitors that weren’t committed five are trending to the Huskers including top-100 tight end Carter Nelson, who is ranked as the top player in the state too in the 2024 class, has been trending with crystal ball projections to land with the Huskers.

In fact, just about every major recruiting expert from 247 Sports, Rivals, and On3 has predicted Carter to commit to Nebraska when he announces his commitment on Wednesday.

Kewan Lacy is another impressive recruiting win

While his commitment won’t get as much attention, landing Kewan Lacy was huge too. He’s ranked 531 overall in the 2024 class, runs the 100-meter dash in 10.79, and had 36 total offers.

Ole Miss was trending as the favorite. He also took official visits to Miami and Baylor before Nebraska. Yet, Matt Rhule and the Huskers were able to win him over.

Guthrie was a player Nebraska identified and offered at a camp. He’s the seventh commitment to follow that same path. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety had over 100 tackles and three interceptions as a junior in Colorado. He also runs the 100-meter dash in 11 seconds and runs the 40 in 4.43.

It’s a wonder that neither Colorado nor Colorado State offered. Surely, Guthrie’s stock would have risen at some point, but since Rhule evaluated him and prioritized him earlier, the Huskers are getting a guy with NFL-caliber athleticism.

That’s basically the entire Nebraska football recruiting class. McMorris and Hall both run the 100-meter dash in 10.65 seconds or less. Nelson high jumps seven feet and also runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5.

Adding to all that is the fact that Daniel Kaelin was the first quarterback from the state of Nebraska to earn Elite 11 honors and Rhule nabbed him, even after missing on Dylan Raiola.

With 19 commitments, Rhule and the Huskers are ranked 16th in the 2024 team rankings via the 247 Sports composite. Carter Nelson will give that ranking a big boost, and it looks like the Huskers are on their way to their best recruiting class in years.
