In a roundup of recent college football recruiting news, we look at a massive crystal for Texas, a potential shakeup with Justin Scott, and a 4-star trending to the defending champs.

One of the elite players left in the 2024 college football recruiting class is Ryan Wingo and we might finally have an idea where he’s headed.

Wingo is a five-star wideout out of St. Louis, who is 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, and ranked 24th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the No. 7 wide receiver in the 2024 college football recruiting class and has been pursued heavily by Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Missouri.

Well, it seems as though the Texas Longhorns have taken the lead as Steve Wiltfong has put in a crystal ball projection for the Horns to land Wingo. Wiltfong is known for saying his predictions reflect the pulse of the recruitment more than a true prediction, but it’s still a really good sign for Texas and worrisome for everyone else.

The idea of playing with Arch Manning has to help and with Xavier Worthy surely moving on to the NFL after this season, the Horns will have a need for another dynamic playmaker.

Who leads for Justin Scott?

According to Wiltfong’s crystal ball prediction, Miami is the leader for Justin Scott, one of the top uncommitted recruits in the 2024 college football recruiting class.

Scott is 6-foot-4, 310 pounds. He’s also ranked 14th overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings. Miami is viewed by some as the leader, including Wiltfong and Chad Simmons, the top expert for On3.com. The On3 prediction machine concurs giving Miami a 69-percent chance to win his commitment.

However, Mike Singer who covers Notre Dame for On3, reported on Wednesday that there’s a feeling this recruitment could lean toward the Midwest. He also said that Michigan was gaining positive momentum.

Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are all in the mix still in my opinion. Georgia might be out but they are landing another 5-star defensive tackle soon it seems. That leaves a top three that, according to my guess, is Miami, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

All three teams will likely try to get Scott on campus at the end of July. Notre Dame is hoping to get him on campus for an official visit in the fall too, but the next visit could be a key indicator of which way Scott is leaning.

At the very least, I won’t buy the Michigan talk unless he goes to the Wolverines’ recruiting BBQ. I also wouldn’t count out Notre Dame especially if the Irish get him back on campus. Scott is out of Chicago and that used to be prime Fighting Irish territory.

Georgia swooping in for a blue-chip offensive lineman

The Michigan Wolverines looked like the favorite to land four-star offensive tackle Michael Uini following his June 16th (weekend) official visit.

However, Uini, who is ranked 144th overall in the 2024 college football recruiting class by the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as ranking as the No. 8 offensive tackle at 6-foot-7, 335 pounds out of Texas, is now trending to Georgia.

The Bulldogs’ toughest competition might be Alabama, which is scheduled to host Uini for an official visit in the fall. Surely, Georgia is pushing for a commitment sooner than that and we’ll see if the Bulldogs land one of the top offensive tackles in the 2024 class.

But it feels like an SEC battle, so Michigan fans should probably put their focus elsewhere such as four-star Bennett Warren, who is deciding between the Wolverines, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.
