2. USC

Just like Texas, USC football got off to a bit of a slow start in the 2024 college football recruiting class. Yet, sometimes that just has to do with the caliber of recruits you’re after.

USC football clearly showed this month that it’s a force in college football recruiting like it hasn’t been since the days of Pete Carroll.

After signing an elite recruiting class in 2023, Lincoln Riley is well on his way to doing the same in the 2024 class. The Trojans were nearly on par with Nebraska football in terms of total commitments from June with 13.

However, what has USC football so high on this list is the fact that 10 of those 13 are ranked as four-star recruits according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. USC landed as many top-100 commitments this month as Michigan has in its entire 2024 class and the Wolverines are ranked fourth overall right now.

USC got top-100 wideout Ryan Pellum on the board in June, as well as top-100 corners Marcelles Williams and Dakoda Fields. The idea was to put a fence around Southern California in terms of recruiting and Riley has done that.

All four top-100 commitments are from California. Yet, USC football is recruiting nationally too and as we said, it’s like the Pete Carroll days which is a scary thought for everyone else.
