July is always an exciting time for college football recruiting and here are the five most important commitments during the first part of July.

June was a busy month for college football recruiting. But things are about to pick up even more. The big official visit period (June) is over and many recruits will be announcing decisions before their senior high school seasons start in August.

It’s a dead period right now for college football recruiting. Yet, there’s nothing dead about it in terms of news. There were a bunch of commitments during the first week or so of July and here’s a look at the five commitments that matter the most.

5. Nick Marsh, WR, Michigan State

There were a few big-name wideouts to commit this week in the 2024 college football recruiting class, but this was a massive land for Michigan State football and Mel Tucker.

Dylan Williams, a four-star linebacker, chose Oregon over Michigan State on Friday, so the Spartans really needed some momentum, especially after Jeremiah Beasley chose Michigan over Michigan State football last month.

The Spartans didn’t have a big-name in-state commitment yet in the 2024 class. But they do now as Tucker was able to land Nick Marsh, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver ranked third in the state of Michigan for 2024, as well as 99th overall.

The Spartans have 12 commitments now. Prior to Marsh, they had just one blue-chip commitment, so it’s a big one for Michigan State football, which is why it cracks our top five.
