5 college football teams poised to bounce back in 2023
Miami
The first season for Miami under the direction of Mario Cristobal didn’t go at all the way college football fans or pundits expected.
Cristobal was supposed to work his magic and get the Hurricanes in contention for an ACC championship, especially with Tyler Van Dyke back at quarterback.
Van Dyke showed a lot of promise in 2021 but struggled last season. There were injuries and nothing seemed to go right in a 5-7 campaign.
Miami signed one of the top recruiting classes in college football and added some key transfers. The Canes landed running back Ajay Allen from Nebraska, as well as a couple of four-star transfers Javion Cohen (IOL from Bama), Jaden Davis (CB), Francis Mauigoa (LB), Matt Lee (O-line), and Branson Dean from Purdue.
It was a really good haul. The offensive line was a major weakness last season and Cristbal added some legit starters to address it. If Tyler Van Dyke can look more like his 2021 self, Miami football will be in the 8-9 win range.
