Texas A&M football

There was no bigger disappointment in the 2022 college football season than Texas A&M which joined Miami, Nebraska football, and Auburn football as missing out on a bowl game.

The 5-7 Aggies were ranked preseason in the top 10 and many expected Texas A&M football, armed with the highest-rated recruiting class in the history of the 247 Sports composite rankings, to be a serious contender for the SEC and national championships.

However, Texas A&M football fell flat on its face. Some of that young talent wasn’t quite ready and that includes former five-star quarterback Conner Weigman who completed just 55 percent of his passes, although he had eight touchdowns compared to zero picks.

Evan Stewart, Moose Muhammad III, and Donovan Green all have the potential to be big-time weapons. In short, the Aggies are one of the most talented programs in college football, if you buy the recruiting rankings.

But what can Texas A&M get out of that talent? Bobby Petrino was hired as offensive coordinator to turn things around and if Jimbo lets him do his thing, this offense will succeed. The defense should be stout and the Aggies should win at least nine and be ranked most of the year.

That might still not be enough to please Texas A&M football fans, however, it will be enough to keep Jimbo as the head coach.
