4. Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa has long been known for its defense but it’s time that the team becomes a little more well-rounded and I think this is the year that the Hawkeyes will make the transition.

They made a big move in the offseason by landing Cade McNamara from the transfer portal from Michigan along with his tight end, Erick All. On top of that, the Hawkeyes landed former Ohio State receiver Kaleb Brown who should help the offense out drastically. Add in budding tight end Luke Lachey to the mix and the Hawkeyes could be special on that side of the ball.

In fact, they’re my pick to win the Big Ten West because I don’t quite think Wisconsin is ready, Illinois also isn’t there yet, Minnesota is fielding a new unproven quarterback, and Nebraska is in year one of a major rebuild under Matt Rhule.

The Hawkeyes will have one of the best defenses in the country yet again, the quarterback situation is in much better hands, and the weapons on offense have improved.

Iowa is the West’s best chance to win the conference title.
