Florida State football is now projected to land a USC football commitment in the 2024 class of blue-chip offensive tackle Manasse Itete.

Sometimes recruiting really is all about effort and when it comes to Manasse Itete, Florida State football has just refused to give in.

The four-star offensive lineman from Modesto, California committed to the Trojans on June 6th. He’s 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, and is ranked No. 331 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. However, the 247 Sports (specific) rankings have him rated much higher at 142 overall.

If you look at the On3 prediction machine, there hasn’t been any movement, but Florida State football fans should be really excited about the prediction put in by Steve Wiltfong as he flipped his projection from the USC Trojans to Florida State football. This came after the Noles have continued to recruit the talented big man

Brandon Huffman also changed his projection and he’s one of the top recruiting experts on the West Coast for 247 Sports so that’s a really good sign for the Seminoles. Greg Biggins and Blair Angulo have also put in crystal ball predictions for Itete to flip to FSU.

Why this flip would be a big deal for Florida State football

The Noles currently have the 14th-ranked recruiting class in 2024 according to the 247 Sports team rankings but they don’t have a tackle commitment like Itete. Florida State football has a 6-foot-4, as well as a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman committed.

Both are listed as offensive tackles, but you generally don’t see guys that size playing tackle on the left side. It’s not ideal at least. You want someone long with great feet.

Itete fits that mold and what makes him intriguing is that he’s a two-sport athlete. He averaged 10 points and six rebounds according to his 247 sports profile and also played defensive tackle.

247 Sports ranking is probably more reflective of his skill set and that’s why if Florida State is able to pull off this flip, it will be a big win, especially to pull him right out of California, although he’s originally from The Congo. This is a recruitment to keep a close eye on.
