Can Vanderbilt football go bowling in 2023?

Is there hope again in Nashville? Vanderbilt football has always been an interesting program. It’s small in contrast to its SEC peers, but it is in one of the fastest-growing cities in the south. However, there were always questions about the school’s financial investment in the football program. James Franklin’s consecutive nine-win seasons seemed to happen despite the lack of commitment by the school.

Well, times are a-changin’ around campus. Head coach Clark Lea spoke about the improvements to the football facilities.

Improving facilities, more aggressive recruiting, and a winning attitude are all coming off a season where Vanderbilt football defeated Florida and Kentucky. The Commodores also played Missouri and South Carolina tough.

Vandy comes into the 2023 season confident because it returns a ton of players from last season’s team who are talented. That said, you do run into an issue all rebuilding programs run into. Does your improvement as a program match or exceed other programs around you?

Everything about Vanderbilt football is better. Lea and his staff have improved the infrastructure, including program administration, nutrition, and recruiting. The players are better than they’ve been in a while.

Will that translate into that sixth win and a bowl game?
