Folks, we have officially hit the month of August, which means that college football is right around the corner. Yes, we will have football played this month as Week 0 is only a few weeks away.

We’re also just a couple of weeks away from the release of the preseason AP Top 25. In fact, the first poll doesn’t come out until noon Eastern on Aug. 15. Fans are already chomping at the bit to find out where their favorite team is going to be slotted.

The top five teams ahead of the season are generally the same, but the rest of the AP Top 25 could be a surprise. There are about 35-40 teams that could legitimately make the first rankings in a couple of weeks but the media has to keep it to just 25. It’s going to be interesting to see how many teams each power conference contributes, especially since some of the best Group of Five teams (Cincinnati, Houston) headed to the Power Five this offseason.

Georgia is the two-time reigning national champion so it’s fair to believe that the Bulldogs will be No. 1 yet again to start the season but there are a few teams that will push for that spot.

Plus, there are some question mark teams like TCU that had great 2022 seasons but key losses may set it back in a big way.

How do I see the preseason AP Top 25 playing out in a couple of weeks?
