Alabama football: 3 bold predictions for 2023 season
2. Tyler Buchner is QB1, passes for over 3,000 yards
When spring ball came to an end, Alabama fans were left wondering who the starting quarterback would be. Neither Ty Simpson nor Jalen Milroe impressed and that left Nick Saban in an unfamiliar position: without a QB1 heading into the fall.
How did he address that? Only by going out and landing former Notre Dame blue-chipper Tyler Buchner who was once a top-100 recruit.
Buchner showed some promise throughout his Notre Dame career and even began the 2022 season as the starter before getting injured and never really gaining that confidence back. He’s now rejoining Tommy Rees in Tuscaloosa and that reunion is going to pay dividends for the Tide.
I think Buchner is not only going to win the starting job with the Tide, but he’s going to pass for over 3,000 yards and really put the nation on notice. Before the 2023 season, his career-highs were 651 passing yards and three touchdowns, but he’s going to crush those numbers.
My prediction is 3,200 yards and 24 touchdowns with 500 rushing yards.
