If you’re an Iowa football fan, you’re holding your breath today in the hopes that Cade McNamara is going to be OK after suffering an apparent leg injury.

During fall camp, there’s one thing that all fans are hoping for: no injuries.

Unfortunately for Iowa, the most important player on the offensive side of the ball went down with a somewhat scary injury on Saturday.

McNamara was scrambling to his right and went down in a no-contact situation. The video of the injury is a little tough to see, but you can tell that something locked up and he fell to the ground.

It didn’t look great.

Obviously there’s going to be plenty of speculation regarding what may have happened here, but people are worried that it may have been an injury to the same leg he had operated on this past year.

Iowa football is believed to be OK — early on

There’s been no statement released obviously as the team is still on the field practicing, but the early feeling is that there’s no serious damage done and he’ll be OK.

Another report said that he’s not on crutches and he doesn’t have ice on his knee. I’m guessing he’s going to get some X-rays after practice to see if there’s any structural damage, but it’s a good sign that he was able to get up and walk off under his own power.

Yet another scare in the preseason for a team that believes it can win the Big Ten. Let’s hope this is nothing serious.
