Notre Dame football: 3 bold predictions for the Irish in 2023
2. Sam Hartman becomes a Heisman finalist
If there’s one familiar face in a new place that I could see having a monster season this year, it’s Sam Hartman.
I’ve long been a believer in Hartman and it probably dates back to the days of watching QB1: Beyond the Lights on Netflix. He was a confident quarterback on a bad team and really became a fan favorite on the show. I followed him ever since and wasn’t shocked to see him star at Wake Forest.
Now, after a lengthy career with over 10,000 passing yards, he’s headed to Notre Dame. He’s ending his collegiate career with a legit playoff contender and that means he’s going to earn the respect he deserves.
I think he’s going to have a huge season in this offense and pass for over 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns. That’s going to be good enough to earn him an invite to New York for the Heisman Ceremony as a finalist. Will he win the award? I’m going to say no, but he’ll be in the final three.
Wake Forest fans have to be sick and tired of former players having elite success elsewhere (Kenneth Walker III won the Doak Walker Award in 2021 after transferring to Michigan State).
